Background
Stacey discovered that the struggles with measuring business performance are, surprisingly, universal. The biggest include hard-to-measure goals, trivial or meaningless measures, and no buy-in from people to measure and improve what matters. To solve these struggles, firstly for herself and later for her peers and clients, Stacey created the PuMP methodology, and a suite of programs based on PuMP.
PuMP Academy became the new home of PuMP early in 2025. But Stacey has been publishing her ideas, learnings, observations and experiences in organisational performance measurement, on her legacy website staceybarr.com, since 2000. The best of this content is moving over to pump.academy, gradually over time.
Stacey is also the author of Practical Performance Measurement and Prove It!, publisher of the Measure Up blog, host of the PuMP Academy, and her content appears on Harvard Business Review’s website and in their acclaimed ManageMentor Program.
